MONTANA AGATE INFORMATION

Eastern Montana is one of the Places in the world that holds many of God’s Paintings in stone in the form of Montana Agate. Agate is one of the many forms of quartz. Quartz in all its forms is the single most abundant mineral on earth.

MONTANA AGATE

Montana Agate, as found in the alluvial flaxville gravel vein in the Yellowstone River valley in Eastern Montana, is normally a mixture of sizes from small 1 ounce nodules to 10 pound nodules. An average would be around ½ to 3 pound sizes. Museum grade rare pieces have been found of twenty, twenty seven and even a mega rare piece of forty pounds. In these agates, patterns of mineral inclusions of iron and manganese oxides sometimes combine with the milky clear silica, which is one of the main components of the agate, to form scenes and trees and even occasionally figure patterns. These are the Montana Agates that we are presenting here.
